EV (Valoarvo)

Kaikki kameran suljinnopeuden ja linssin aukon yhdistelmät, jotka antavat saman valotuksen.

EV-kompensointi

Tällä ominaisuudella voit säätää kameran mittaaman valotusarvon nopeasti tietyin askelin, jolloin valokuvien valotus paranee. EV-kompensointiarvo -1,0 EV säätää arvon yhden askelen tummemmaksi ja 1,0 EV säätää sen yhden askelen kirkkaammaksi.

Exif (Exchangeable Image File Format)

Standardi, jolla määritetään digitaalikameroiden kuvatiedoston muoto, jonka on kehittänyt Japan Electronic Industries Development Association (JEIDA).

Valotus

Kameran sensoriin saapuvan valon määrä. Valotusta säädetään suljinnopeuden, aukkoarvon ja ISO-herkkyyden yhdistelmällä.

Salama

Pikavalo, joka auttaa tuottamaan riittävän valotuksen hämärässä.

Polttoväli

Objektiivin keskikohdan ja polttopisteen etäisyys (millimetreissä). Pidemmät polttovälit tekevät kuvakulmista kapeampia, ja kohde suurennetaan. Lyhyemmät polttovälit tekevät kuvakulmista laajempia.

Histogrammi

Graafinen kuvan kirkkauden esitys. Vaaka-akseli edustaa kirkkautta ja pystyakseli pikselien määrää. Korkeat kohdat histogrammin vasemmalla puolella (liian tumma) ja oikealla puolella (liian kirkas) tarkoittavat, että kuva ei ole valottunut asianmukaisesti.

H.264/MPEG-4

Tehokkaasti pakattu videomuoto, jonka ovat määrittäneet kansainväliset standardiorganisaatiot ISO-IEC ja ITU-T. Tämä pakkaus tuottaa hyvän videolaadun matalilla bittinopeuksilla. Sen on kehittänyt Joint Video Team (JVT).

Kuvakenno

Digitaalikameran osa, joka sisältää kutakin kuvan pikseliä vastaavan valokuvan osan. Kukin valokuvan osa tallentaa valotuksen aikana siihen osuvan valon kirkkauden. Tavallisia sensorityyppejä ovat CCD (varauskytketty piiri) ja CMOS (komplementaarinen metallioksidipuolijohde).
