Du kan undgå rystelser ved at støtte din krop eller kameraet op ad en fast genstand som f.eks. et bord, et træ eller en mur.

Selv om der er forskel fra den ene fotograf til den anden, er den langsomste anbefalede lukkertide for et håndholdt kamera generelt 1/(brændvidde 1.5).

Således er den eksempelvis 1/75 sekund, når brændvidden er 50 mm, og 1/150 sekund, når den er 100 mm.

Der anbefales at bruge stativ, eller OPS-funktionen, ved langsommere lukkertider.

Når du bruger et teleobjektiv, bør du anvende et stativ, der er tungere end den samlede vægt af kamera og objektiv for at undgå kamerarystelser.

Når der benyttes et stativ bør du ikke benytte OPS-funktionen, da dette kan forårsage sløring af billedet, på grund at den oscillerende OPS-sensor.
