Piste

Piste-tilassa valon määrä lasketaan kuvan keskeltä. Kun kuva otetaan olosuhteissa, joissa kohteen takana on kirkas taustavalo, kamera säätää valotuksen siten, että kohde kuvataan oikein. Kun esimerkiksi valitset Monilohko-tilan kirkkaassa taustavalossa, kamera laskee, että valoa on kokonaismäärältään runsaasti, joten kuvasta tulee tummempi. Piste-tila voi estää tämän, koska se laskee valon määrän tietyllä alueella.

Kohde on kirkas ja tausta tumma. Piste-tilaa suositellaan käytettäväksi tilanteissa, joissa kohteen ja taustan valotuksen välillä on hyvin suuri ero.

Keskipainotteinen

Keskipain.-tilassa valon määrä lasketaan laajemmalta alueelta kuin Piste-tilassa. Se laskee yhteen kuvan keskialueen valomäärän (60–80 %) ja kuvan muun osan valomäärän (20–40 %). Tätä tilaa suositellaan tilanteisiin, joissa kohteen ja taustan kirkkauden välillä on pieni ero tai joissa kohde on suuri kuvan koko sommitteluun verrattuna.
