Clona je jedním ze tří faktorů určujících expozici. Clona se skládá z tenkých kovových plátků, které se otevírají nebo uzavírají, a propouštějí tak světlo do fotoaparátu. Stupeň clony určuje množství světla: čím větší clona, tím méně světla propustí, a čím menší clona, tím více světla projde.

Velikost clony je popsána hodnotou známou jako„F-číslo“. F-číslo vyjadřuje ohniskovou vzdálenost dělenou průměrem objektivu. Například pokud objektiv s ohniskovou vzdáleností 50 mm má f-číslo F2, průměr clony je 25 mm. (50 mm / 25 mm = F2) Čím menší je f-číslo, tím větší je velikost clony.

Otvor clony je popsán jako expoziční hodnota (EV). Zvýšení expoziční hodnoty (+1 EV) znamená dvojnásobné množství světla. Snížení expoziční hodnoty (-1 EV) znamená poloviční množství světla. Funkci kompenzace expozice můžete rovněž využívat k jemnému ladění množství světla použitím menších expozičních hodnot 1/2, 1/3 EV apod.
