Using the D-Net

Operating Tips

1)When the screen is switched to the TV program.

-When you select the TV button, the TV button, in the Device List, it switches to the TV program.

-Although you have selected another device from the Device List, if detecting a video signal from the device fails, the “Connection failed” message appears and the screen automatically switches to the TV program.

-When the 1394 connection to the selected device is disconnected, the screen automatically switches to the TV program. If you reconnect the device, the reconnected device is automatically selected.

2)AVHDD, DVHS and camcorders automatically stop when you select another device.

3)Some devices may be displayed in the Device List as ‘UNCONTROLLABLE’.

This may happen when the device does not contain the proper information or it cannot be read.

4)Some devices may not be recognized and may be disconnected from the 1394 connection when they are turned off.

5)Through D-Net, you can connect another IEEE1394 compatible TV. If the TV is connected, the TV is listed in the D-Net Devices. At this point, the screen that appears when the TV is selected is determined by the specifications of the connected TV. That is, the screen of the connected TV or another connected IEEE1394 device may be displayed.

*What is Digital TS : DTV packages digital data (video, audio and data) into 188 byte units using the MPEG-2 algorithm and transmits the data unit (unlike for analog). It is called Digital Transport Stream or Digital TS.

6)When connected to another STB, some STBs may not be displayed in the Device List due to device specifications or defects when multiple devices are connected.

Even if the device is displayed in the Device List, the connection to the device may fail. Otherwise, due to STB trouble, the video stream may be stopped while recording, or the recording may fail. In this case, you have to discover which device is defective by removing the devices one by one.

7)When connected to an AVHDD

-Do not move the AVHDD disc while it is in use as it may cause a disruption in the video.

-Some AVHDDs may provide two playbacks or recordings simultaneously. In this case, there may be two Play icons in the Program List and 2 AVHDD buttons in the Target List.

-If you copy a program from the Program List, the selected AVHDD program is played on the TV screen and recorded using the device selected from the Target List.

Even if the program reaches its end, the recording device does not stop automatically.

-Some AVHDDs may display the wrong program information after recording, depending on the situation.

-A program currently being recorded on the AVHDD can be viewed by selecting AVHDD from the Device List. (PVR(Person Video Recorder) function.)

-When using the “Go to recording position” function, the recording and playing time are displayed. The difference between them must be longer than 30 seconds to avoid overlapping.

8)When connected to DVHS

-Some devices support an automatic connect function (I-mode). These devices may cause a malfunction when multiple devices are connected.

-Some DVHS devices may not record properly when multiple devices are connected and the mode is I-mode.

9)When connected to a camcorder

-Depending on if the camcorder is in Tape or Camera Mode, the control panel changes.

If the camcorder turns off the power (power saving mode), the camcorder may disappear from the Device List.
