Ja LCD panelī ilgāku laika periodu tiek attēlots nemainīgs attēls (ilgāk kā 12 stundas), var rasties neliela sprieguma starpība starp pikseļu elektrodiem, kas kontrolē šķidros kristālus.

Šī elektrodu sprieguma starpība ar laiku pieaug, liekot šķidrajiem kristāliem sarauties. Ja tā notiek, videi mainoties, ekrānā var aizkavēties iepriekšējais attēls. Lai to novērstu, jāsamazina uzkrātā sprieguma starpība.
