Risoluzione

L'immagine su un monitor è composta da punti rossi, verdi e blu. Minore è la distanza tra i punti, maggiore è la risoluzione. La dis- tanza tra due punti dello stesso colore viene chiamata 'Dot Pitch' (Dimensione punto). Unità: mm

Per poter ricreare una immagine sullo schermo e visualizzarla, lo schermo deve essere ricomposto diverse volte al secondo. La fre- quenza di questa ripetizione viene chiamata Frequenza verticale o Velocità di aggiornamento. Unità: Hz

Esempio: Se la stessa luce lampeggia 60 volte al secondo, questa viene denominata 60 Hz.

Il tempo necessario per eseguire la scansione di una linea che col- lega orizzontalmente il bordo destro al bordo sinistro dello scher- mo viene chiamato Ciclo Orizzontale. Il numero inversamente proporzionale del Ciclo Orizzontale viene chiamato Frequenza Orizzontale. Unità: kHz

La visualizzazione in sequenza di linee orizzontali dall'alto verso il basso viene chiamata metodo Non interlacciato mentre la visu- alizzazione prima delle linee dispari poi delle linee pari viene denominato Metodo interlacciato. Il metodo Non iterlacciato viene utilizzato nella maggior parte dei monitor per garantire una immagine nitida. Il Metodo interlacciato è uguale al metodo uti- lizzato nei televisori.

Questa funzione fornisce la migliore qualità di visualizzazione permettendo lo scambio automatico di informazioni tra computer e monitor. Questo monitor segue lo standard internazionale VESA DDC per la funzione Plug & Play.

Il numero di punti orizzontali e verticali utilizzati per comporre l’immagine a schermo viene chiamato "risoluzione". Questo nu- mero indica il livello di accuratezza della visualizzazione. Una risoluzione elevata consente di eseguire più compiti, in quanto possono essere visualizzate a schermo più informazioni sull’im- magine.

Esempio: Se la risoluzione è di 1680 X 1050, ciò significa che lo schermo è composto da 1680 punti orizzontali (risoluzione oriz- zontale) e 1050 linee verticali (risoluzione verticale).
