10 Base T
10 Mbps baseband twisted-pair.
It is an Ethernet using Category 5 cable inter-
face.
Cable Modem
Cable Modem is a device that allows high-
speed data access (such as to the Internet) via
a cable TV (CATV) network.
A cable modem will typically have two connec-
tions, one to the cable wall outlet and the
other to a computer (PC).
Cable Provider
This is your Cable TV service provider.
Cable Splitter
Metal interface that accepts single input and
divides it into multiple outputs.
Coaxial Cable
A cable with high resistance to electrical inter-
ference. This medium is typically used by
cable television companies for video distribu-
tion.
CAT 5 Ethernet Cable
Category 5 cable that connects Ethernet
based network using RJ45 connectors (already
installed on both ends of the Category 5
cable). This cable is needed to connect the
Network Interface Card to cable modem.

Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol, used to
