Denne tilslutning anvendes ved opskalering af optagede billeder i SD-kvalitet til billeder i HD-kvalitet til afspilning. Ved afspilning af videoer i SD-kvalitet (720x576/50i) på et HDTV, opskaleres billederne til 1280x720/50p- eller 1920x1080/50p-billeder i høj defi nition. Tilslutningsmetoderne og kvaliteten på det billede, der vises på tv-skærmen, afhænger af den tv-type, der tilsluttes samt de anvendte tilslutninger.
