What’s New in v334

Firmware version 334 (v334) for the ION8800 meter offers Modbus Master over TCP/IP. This allows the ION8800 to read or record data from Modbus slave devices using up to ten available TCP sockets. The Modbus Master over TCP/IP utilizes one specific, dedicated communications connection that is independent of the existing available maximum 4 simultaneous Ethernet connections.

To support the new features in v334, download the latest version of ION Setup from www.global.powerlogic.com.

Modbus Master over TCP/IP must be configured through ION Setup or ION Enterprise software. See the ION8800 User Guide for instructions.

As a master, the ION8800 can aggregate data from multiple slave devices and then pass it to ION software for analysis. Modbus Master also gives you control of devices on a Modbus network with the meter’s write capability.

There are two communication links to consider when you Modbus Master with the ION8800: the link between the ION software and the ION8800, and the link between the ION8800 and the Modbus network.
