Connecting External Devices

You can enjoy picture and sound by connecting a VCR or a home video game system to the terminals located on the rear of the main unit.

When connecting an external device, turn off the POWER of the main unit first to prevent any possible damage.

Example of External Devices that can be Connected

To INPUT2 terminal

<Example>

Camcorder

Home video game system

*If your external device has an S-video terminal, S-VIDEO connection is recommended.

To INPUT1 terminal

<Example>

• DVD Player, etc.

• Digital TV tuner

*If your external device has a component terminal, COMPONENT connection is recommended

(you can view high-quality pictures).

To INPUT3/OUTPUT terminal

<Example>

VCR

Laser disc player

• Audio amplifier

A

PC connection is not possible.

For the cable, use a commercially available audio/video cable.

Only connect audio/video signals to INPUT2 and INPUT3/OUTPUT terminals. Connecting other signals may result in a malfunction.

INPUT2 has 2 video input terminals: VIDEO and S-VIDEO. When you connect external devices to both terminals (and if you select “INPUT2”), you can only view pictures from the S-VIDEO terminal. To view the picture from the VIDEO terminal, do not connect any external device to the S-VIDEO terminal.

For more information about external device connections, see the manuals of your external devices.

Outputting Video and Audio (Video Output)

You can output video and audio signals from the TV set through the INPUT3/OUTPUT terminal.

When using INPUT3/OUTPUT as an output terminal, select “SETUP” in the Menu and set “INPUT3 SELECT” to “OUT”. (See page 25.)

The factory setting for “INPUT3 SELECT” is “IN”.

A

The INPUT3/OUTPUT terminal has 2 output modes (see page 25).

When using the S-VIDEO input for INPUT2, or Y, PB or PR input for COMPONENT, no video output will be made to the AV output terminal, but audio output will be made for connection to external audio systems.
