Starting the Engine

Before starting the engine

This unit comes completely assem- bled. Before using this product, please make sure you have all the components required for a complete unit. Carefully inspect all components for damage.

The terms “left,” “left-hand,” and “LH”; “right,” “right-hand,” and “RH”; “front” and “rear” refer to directions as viewed by the operator during normal opera- tion of this product.

Starting the Engine

IMPORTANT!

Engine ignition is controlled by a two position switch mounted on the throttle housing labeled, “I” for ON or START and “O” for OFF or STOP.

WARNING!

The cutting attachment will operate immediately when the engine starts and could result in loss of control and possible seri- ous injury. Keep movable parts of the cutting attachment away from objects that could become entan-

Never start the engine from the operating position. The cutting attachment will move when the engine accelerates!

NOTE:

The blade cover is used for transportation and storage. Remove blade cover before using the unit.

1.Slide the ignition switch to the “ON” position.

2.Set the throttle trigger to the “fast idle”:

a.Depress and hold the throttle lock, then squeeze the throttle trigger.

b.Depress and hold the fast idle button.

c.Release the throttle trigger and throttle lock, then release fast idle button.

3.Press the primer bulb until fuel can be seen flowing in the transparent return tube.

IMPORTANT!

The primer system only pushes fuel through the carburetor. Repeatedly

pressing the primer bulb will not flood

the engine with fuel.

CAUTION!

The recoil starter can be easily damaged by abuse! Never pull the starter cord to its full length.

IMPORTANT!

If the engine fails to start after sev- eral attempts with the choke in the closed position, the engine may be flooded with fuel. Refer to the “Start- ing a Flooded Engine” section of this manual.
