It is recommended to inhibit Standby Mode by selecting Standby “Never” option under the ‘Power Manager’ menu options in the Control Panel. It is also recommended not to use Start>Shutdown > Standby.

What do I do with the message window: “The feature you are trying to use is on a CD-ROM or other removable disk that is not available. Insert the 'Watcher' Disk and click OK”?

If Watcher is being loaded on a computer that has a fresh Windows 2000 operating system load and has not had any other software loaded to this point, you may see the following message: “The feature you are trying to use is on a CD-ROM or other removable disk that is not available. Insert the Watcher Disk and click OK”. Dismiss the message by clicking Cancel. This is a one time event and should not happen again.

Why won’t my laptop hibernate or go into standby since I loaded Watcher software?

Due to power control issues with Windows 2000 SP2 (Service Pack 2) and earlier regarding USB device management, a standby / hibernate blocker has been written into Watcher software. If the laptop is upgraded to Windows 2000 SP3, the software will see this and restore the standby and hibernate functionality.
