Signat - for professionals

Signat originates from the German manufacturer Autosound, since the early 1980’s experienced in the car audio segment. In 1992 Autosound first launched its A-brand with the name Signat. This is a derivation of the word ‘signature’, which refers to the individual marks and qualities of each and every design. The rich history of the Signat brand features many monumental highlights, like the phenomenal FLAG amplifier and its successors LOG, LAB and RAMbo amplifiers. In order to generate the maximum performance of all the Signat amplifiers and loudspeakers, Signat has developed a specially conceived, extremely elaborate cable and accessory program under the name of ‘Platinum’. These high-quality connection materials will highly contribute to the enhancement of each and every car audio install.

And there’s more to Signat than just car audio. Just witness the ‘inSight’ multimedia devices, the security product line and the elaborate catalogue of ‘Fits’ adapters and interfaces. All of these products are closely related in order to create an optimum symbiosis. This goes to show that Signat really composes its product range ‘for professionals’.

AWG and mm²

Signat cables are measured in AWG (American Wire Gauge), the American standard which is loga- rithmic. This is about the same as calculating with deciBels. In this table the AWG wire cross-sections are converted to mm² according to the usual rounded standard as well as the precise values.

Cable diameter

Electric cables in cars should have a certain cross-section to transfer the power and signals without losses through the hostile environment of the vehicle with all of its interferences caused by other electrical circuits. The recommended wire cross-section is based on the system ’s current draw and the length of the cable. Note that you can always use thicker cable (a lower AWG number); a power cable can never be too thick.
