Troubleshooting
Refer also to the “Memory card” section (p.85).
The desired images cannot be found. Images cannot be played back.
• Select the memory card and image quality of the image you want to play back on the
VISUAL INDEX screen (p.45).
• Image data cannot be played back if you have modified file names or folders, or have edited
the data on a computer (When viewing still images, the file name flashes). This is not a
malfunction (p.100).
• Images recorded on other devices may not be played back, or displayed in incorrect si ze. This
is not a malfunction.
The data file name is displayed incorrectly, or flashing.
• The file is damaged.
• The file format is not supported on your camcord er (p. 98).
• Only the file name is displayed, if the folder structure does not conform to the universal
standard.
No sound or only a low sound is heard.
•Turn up the volume (p. 47).
• Movies recorded using [SMOOTH SLOW REC] do not have sounds.
“---” is displayed on the screen.
• The memory card you are playing was recorded without setting the date and time.
• Bars will be displayed for the camera data of the movies recorded with [SMOOTH SLOW
REC] or [COLOR BAR] set to [ON].
• Bars will be displayed for the exposure correction value and flash information of the st ill
images created with [PHOTO CAPTURE].

• This appears when you play back movies recorded with 5.1ch surround sound. 5.1ch
surround sound is down-mixed to 2ch stereo and played back on your camcorder.
