Using your VAIO

I cannot access the Internet

Check the settings of the Access Point. See the manual of the Access Point.

Check if your computer and the Access Point are communicating.

I cannot establish a Wireless LAN connection

There are many steps to the wireless connection setup and each one should be followed carefully to ensure a smooth connection. Please read all the documentation on the wireless setup before calling VAIO-Link with a problem.

Please bear in mind the following:

Make sure all the power to the equipment is turned on, including the computer’s wireless switch and the access point, if applicable.

When you turn on the wireless switch and the Access Point, communication between the VAIO and the Access Point is not automatic. To make sure you perform the steps in full, please refer to all the documentation. The available documentation depends on your model: check the online Help files in the software; separate Wireless Connection sheets (depending on your model); separate Wireless LAN accessory guides, and so on.

Wireless LAN devices using the IEEE 802.11a standard cannot communicate with those using the IEEE 802.11b or IEEE 802.11g standard as they run on different frequencies.

With a computer-to-computer setup, if you want to communicate between two or more computers, you need to configure all these computers the exact same way. This means you need to enter the same network name and the same network key on all computers as on the first computer you configure.
