84 Troubleshooting

Synchronized

Recording

S15 The SYNCHRO

REC indicator turns

off while recording

or does not go back

to recording standby

mode.

tThe tape has reached its end. Insert a new tape and press SYNCHRO

REC again.

S16 The Synchronized

Recording function

does not work.

tThe connected equipment was not turned off.

Turn off the connected equipment and press SYNCHRO REC again.

tThere was a power failure. Press SYNCHRO REC again.

S17 The programme

recorded with the

Synchronized

Recording function

is incomplete.

tIf the settings for timer recordings and Synchronized Recording

overlap, the programme that starts first has priority and the second

programme starts recording only after the first pr og ramme has

finished.

tThere was a power failure. Press SYNCHRO REC again.

Remote

commander

S18 The remote

commander does not

operate.

tMake sure you are pointing the remote co mmander at the remote

sensor on the VCR.

tReplace all of the batteries in th e remote commander with new ones if

they are weak.

tMake sure the TV/VIDEO remote control switch is set correctly.

S19 You cannot control

your TV. tSet your TV’s code number. The code number may change w hen you

replace the batteries for the remote commander (see page 8).

Cleaning

S20 The VCR needs to be

cleaned. tClean the cabinet, panel and controls with a dry, soft cloth, or a soft

cloth slightly moistened with a mi ld detergent solution. Do not use

any type of solvent, such as alcohol or benzene.

Clock

S21 The clock has

stopped and “–:– –”

lights up in the

display window.

tThe clock stops if the VCR is disconnected from the mains for more

than one hour. Reset the clock and timer if needed (see page 19).

Power

S22 The ?/1 ON/

STANDBY switch

does not function.

tConnect the mains lead to the mains securely.

S23 The power is turned

on but the VCR does

not operate.

tMoisture condensation has occurred. Turn the power off, unplug the

mains lead and leave the VCR to dry for over three hours.

S24 The tape is ejected

when you press ?/1

ON/STANDBY.

tYou have set a timer recording, but the tape on which you want to

record is protected. Use another tape or replace the safety tab.

S25 The display is not lit

when the VCR is in

STANDBY mode.

tThe VCR is in power save mode. Set the POWER SAVE option to

OFF in the OTHER OPTIONS menu (see page 75).
