Making a Timer Programme(ST-SA5ES only)
With the PROGRAM selector you can store up to four different programmes for timer operation. By connecting an optional audio timer, you can specify times to receive up to four programmes. “MEMORY” appears in the display.3Use SHIFT and number buttons to select a preset station. If you plan on making more than one programme, be sure to programme the station with the earliest start time first.
4Press MEMORY again.The MEMORY indicator goes out when you’ve finished one programme.5Repeat steps 2 to 4, for programmes 2, 3, and 4. Programme in chronological order according to the start time.
6Set PROGRAM to “ON”.7Set your audio timer.When the audio timer turns on the power to the tuner, reception advances cyclically to the next programme each time the power comes on.
zIf you don’t plan on using the programme right awaySet PROGRAM to “OFF” in step 6. Then, when you want to use the programme, all you have to do is to set PROGRAM to “ON” and set your timer.
Checking the programme contents
1Set PROGRAM to SET.
2Press CHECK repeatedly to display each of the memorized programmes.If you want to check the actual reception of the programmed stationsTurn PROGRAM on and turn POWER off and on. The preset stations will be received in the programmed order.
Notes
•If the setting of a programme is changed, the settings of the other programmes are all cleared. In this case, store the programmes again.
•When PROGRAM is set to SET, the display window changes to full display/full brightness automatically.
Adjusting the Recording Level (Calibration Tone) (ST-SA5ES only)
The calibration tone function is a convenient way to adjust the recording level on a tape deck or MD recorder, it sends out a signal at approximately 400Hz corresponding to 50% modulation.

1Set the tape deck or MD recorder to the recording pause mode.2Press MENU.3Rotate TUNING/SELECT until “CALTONE” appears in the display and press ENTER.4Adjust the recording level on the tape deck or MD recorder.Normally, adjust the level meter to indicate a value about 6 dB below the maximum recording level.
To turn off the CALTONEPress ENTER. The tuner returns to normal operation.
