Using Your VAIO Computer

To communicate without an access point (ad-hoc)

You cannot select the 5 GHz bandwidth, which is used for the IEEE 802.11a standard, on ad-hoc networks.

1Turn on the WIRELESS or WIRELESS LAN switch. The Wireless LAN indicator lights up.

On models that support the Bluetooth functionality* and/or the IEEE 802.11a/b/g standard*, double-click ( / ) on the taskbar to display the Wireless Device Switch window. Select your desired wireless option(s) and click OK.

2Click Start and Control Panel.

3Click View network status and tasks under Network and Internet.

4Click Set up a connection or network on the left pane. The Set up a connection or network window appears.

5Select an option to specify the ad-hoc network settings and click Next.

6Follow the on-screen instructions.
