CLEANING
Darkened areas, called “heat tint,” sometimes appear on sta inless steel surf aces where the are a has been
subjected to excessive heat. These darkened areas are caused by thick ening of the prot ective s urfac e of the
stainless steel and are not harmful. Heat tint can normally be rem oved by the above cleaning techniques, but
tint which does not respond to that procedure calls for a v igor ous sc ouring in the direct ion of the p olish lines ,
using SCOTCH-BRITE scouring pads or a STAINLESS sc ouring pad in combination with a powered
cleanser. Heat tint action may be lessened by not applying, or by reducing, heat to equipment duri ng slack
periods.
