11.4.2 Cancel a DSC Distress Call
If a DSC Distress call was sent by error the Phantom PS1000 allows you to
send a message to other vessels to cancel the Distress Call that was made in
error.
1. Press the [DISTRESS] key momentarily. The “DIS-
TRESS” notation will appear on the LCD.
2. Press the [] or [] key to select “CANCEL.”
3. Press the [DISTRESS] key again to send a Distress
call.
11.4.3 Receiving a DSC Distress Call
1. When a DSC Distress call is received, “RECEIVED
DISTRESS” notation will appear on the LCD, and an
emergency alarm will sound.
Then channel 16 is automatically selected.
2. Press any key to stop the alarm.
3. Press the [] or [] key to change the display to
show the information of the vessel in distress.
4 If the position of the vessel distress data does not
include position, the LCD will show “NO POSITION” no-
tation instead of position (LAT/LON) data.
NOTE
You must continue monitoring channel 16 as a coast station may require
assistance in the rescue attempt.
11.4.4 Receiving a DSC Distress Relay Call
1. A distress relay call is received. “RECEIVED RLY
will appear on the LCD, and an emergency alarm
will be heard.
Channel 16 is automatically selected.
2. Press any key to stop the alarm.
3. Press the [] or [] key to change the display to
show the information of the vessel in distress.
Note: You must continue monitoring channel 16 as
a coast station may require assistance in any rescue
attempt.
