Chapter 3 Troubleshooting

3-1 Troubleshooting Procedures

Use the following procedures to troubleshoot your system. If you have followed all
of the procedures belo w and still need assi stance, refer to the ‘Technical Support
Procedures’ and/or ‘Retur ning Merchandise for Service’ section(s) in th is chapter.
Always disconnect the AC p ower cord b efore adding, changing or installing any
hardware components.

Before Power On

1. Be sure to unplug the power cable before in stalling or removing t he compo-
nents.)
2. Make sure that there are no short circuits between the motherboa rd and chas-
sis.
3. Disconnect all ribbon /wire cables from the m otherboard, including t hose for the
keyboard and mouse. Al so, be sure to r emove all add-on cards.
4. Connect th e chassis speaker and t he power LED to the motherboard. C heck
all jumper setting s as well.

No Power

1. Make sure that there are no short circuits b etween the motherboar d and chas-
sis.
2. Make sure that a ll jumpers are s et to their default positions.
3. Check if the 115V/230V switch on the power supply is pr operly set.
4. Turn the power switch on and off to test the system.
5. The batte ry on you r motherboard may be old. Check to make su re that it still
supplies ~3VDC. If it does not, replac e it with a new one.

No Video

1. If the power is on, but you have no video--in this c ase, you will need to remove
all the add-on cards and cables rst.
