MTS (Multi-channel Television Sound) SYSTEM

MTS allows for reception of sound other than the main audio program. You can listen or record

TV/VCR

monaural audio sound, stereo sound or Secondary Audio Program (SAP).

WHEN RECEIVING AN MTS BROADCAST

Press [TV/VCR Audio] repeatedly to select a sound mode when you watch or record a TV program.

The mode changes according to the broadcast among "STEREO",

"SAP" and "MONO" every time

STEREO

you press the button.

NOTES:

The initial setting is "STEREO". The unit records auto- matically MTS broadcasts in Hi-Fi stereo sound unless you select "SAP" beforehand.

If you select "SAP" when second audio is not available, the unit will record in normal audio.

This setting returns to the initial value when you turn off the unit or unplug the power cord.

WHEN PLAYING CASSETTES

Press [TV/VCR Audio] repeatedly to select "HIFI" or "MONO".

• This setting is saved until the cassette is ejected.

NOTE:

The initial setting is "HIFI". When you play non-HIFI tapes, the unit will play only in the monaural mode even if the setting is "HIFI".

WHEN IN THE EXTERNAL INPUT ("AUX") MODE

Any output mode setting does not affect the audio output, and the current audio output mode does not appear on the TV screen.
