Chapter 6: Using the TV’s features
Using the black stretch feature
You can use the black stretch feature to correct the contrast
balance in the black areas of the picture. The effect depends on
the quality of the video signal.

To turn on the black stretch feature:

1Press Y and open the Picture menu.
2Highlight Picture Settings and press T.
3Press B or b to highlight Black Stretch.
4Press C or c to select On.

To turn off the black stretch feature:

Select Off in step 4 above.
Using MPEG noise reduction
The MPEG noise reduction feature allows you to reduce
visible interference caused by MPEG compression. Choices
for MPEG noise reduction are Off, Low, Middle, and High.
Off is automatically selected when this feature is disabled
(“grayed out”).

To select the MPEG noise reduction level:

1Press Y and open the Picture menu.
2Highlight Picture Settings and press T.
3Press B or b to highlight MPEG NR.
4Press C or c to select Low, Middle, High, or Off.
Using CableClear®/DNR (digital noise reduction)
The CableClear® digital noise reduction feature allows you to
reduce visible interference in your TV picture. This may be
useful when receiving a broadcast with a weak signal
(especially a Cable channel) or playing a noisy video cassette
or disc.

To turn on the CableClear/DNR settings:

1Press Y and open the Picture menu.
2Highlight Picture Settings and press T.
3Press B or b to highlight CableClear DNR.
4Press C or c to select Low, Middle, High, or Auto.

To turn off CableClear DNR:

Select Off in step 4 above.
Note:
The CableClear® DNR feature works with 480i input sources
only.
When the TV is in ColorStream or HDMI mode, the words
“CableClear DNR” will change to “DNR” in the menu.
DNR is not selectable in PC mode.
