Using the computer for the first time

Setting up a printer

If you have a printer, follow these steps to set it up for the first

time. You only need to set up the printer once.

1Click Start, Printers and Faxes.

The Printers and Faxes window appears.

2Click Add a Printer.

The Add Printer Wizard appears

3Follow the on-screen instructions to set up your printer.

TECHNICAL NOTE: Some printers require a specific installation

process. In this case, the Windows®XP Professional Add Printer

Wizard will display an error message. If this happens, refer to your

printer installation guide for further instructions.

Jumping video lines appear around the DVD-ROM video window. DVD titles, games, or applications appear distorted. The screen saver runs while you are watching a movie or title. Develop good computing habits Save your work frequently. On a regular basis, back up the information stored on your hard disk. Read the users guides.
