When you turn on the computer for the first time, do not turn off the

power again until the operating system has loaded completely.

Your computer comes with enough memory to run most of today’s

popular applications. You may want to increase the computer’s

memory if you use complex software or process large amounts of

data.

Before adding external devices or memory, Toshiba recommends

setting up your software. See “Setting up your software” on page45.

Your data files are damaged or corrupted. Some programs run correctly but others do not. A diskette will not go into the optional external diskette drive. The drive cannot read a diskette. Optical drive problems You cannot access a disc in the drive. You press the disc eject button, but the drive tray does not slide out. Some discs run correctly but others do not. The disc will not come out of the drive when you click the eject button on the screen. Sound system problems No sound is coming from the computers speakers. The computer emits a loud, high-pitched noise. PC Card problems PC Card checklist Resolving PC Card problems The system does not recognize your PC Card. A PC Card error occurs. Printer problems The printer will not print. The printer will not print what you see on the screen. Modem problems The modem will not receive or transmit properly. The modem is on, set up properly but still does not transmit or receive data.
