3.10 Modem Test

The Modem test checks the function of dial tone detection.

NOTE: Remember to plug phone line into the Modem connector of unit before this test starts.

The test takes the Modem off-hook and checks for line current. Lack of line current is a failure, as the Codec needs line current to work in this mode – it means that there is no phone line connected, and the test will be aborted and showed “fail”. Then samples are taken, and checked the following items:

ŠTwo tones.

ŠBoth tones within a band of 276 to 640 Hz.

ŠTone levels differ from average sample levels by a factor of 10.

The screen should display as below, indicating whether the test passed or failed when finished.
