The M7300 mobile is a state-of-the-art radio that trunks seamlessly between the 800 MHz frequency band
and the newly available 700 MHz frequency band. The M7300 mobile is designed to meet the critical
demands of its users.
The M7300 mobile supports multiple operating modes, including OpenSky® digital trunked operation,
Enhanced Digital Access Communications System (EDACS®) or ProVoiceTM trunked modes, P25 digital
trunked mode, P25 digital conventional mode, and conventional analog mode. The M7300 also provides
Project 25 conventional capabilities for interoperability with other users in the 700/800 MHz bands.
The optional Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver module can provide standard GPS formatted data
over the air for vehicle tracking systems.
The optional Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) is available for maximum communications security.
OpenSky radios benefit from a flexible, software-based digital radio design. Features and user profiles are
software-defined and can be reprogrammed over the air. The optional over-the-air programming feature
allows communications protocols to be changed easily and added at any time.
The M7300 radio uses the CH-721 Control Head which is available in two models: System and Scan. The
display is designed to maximize readability and ease of use. The CH-721 utilizes a 3-line 12-character
alphanumeric display with large buttons, volume knob, and channel knob, providing a user-friendly
interface.

5.1 CH721 CONTROL HEADS

The CH721 control head is available as either a Scan or System model and can be mounted with the radio
(Front Mount) or it can be mounted and operated remotely.
The following lists available control head options.
CU23218-0001 – Local Scan
CU23218-0002 – Remote Scan
CU23218-0003 – Local System
CU23218-0004 – Remote System
For remote mount installations configured with a CH721 control head, all normal radio operations and
interfaces can be handled via the control head connected to the radio unit via a 3-wire Controller Area
Network (CAN) cable. Up to five control heads may be attached to a trunk mount radio and up to four
control heads can be connected to a front-mount M7300. Each control head provides a serial access point
for data and any one (only one at a time) can be connected to a data device such as a personal computer.
Where multiple control heads are connected or where a dash-mount radio is installed with additional
remote control heads, the following features are available from each position:
Outgoing voice calls can be initiated. (Any control head can initiate a call but only one can talk at a
time. All other connected control heads will hear both sides of the conversation.)
Incoming and outgoing audio can be heard. (Outgoing audio is not broadcast at the source position.)
Independent audio control is available.
Radio settings such as talk group, scan mode etc., can be controlled. (Any connected control head can
override the radio settings of other connected control heads.)
