SPECIAL NOTICE: This unit is not

equipped with a temperature limiting muffler and spark arresting screen which meets the re- quirements of California Codes 4442 and 4443. All U.S. forest land and the states of California, Idaho, Maine, Minnesota, New Jersey, Ore- gon, and Washington require by law that many internal combustion engines to be equipped with a spark arrestor screen. If you operate in a locale where such regulations exist, you are legally responsible for installing and maintain- ing the operating condition of these parts. Fail- ure to do so is a violation of the law. If a spark arrestor is required in your area, contact your Authorized Service Dealer for the proper kit.

ASSEMBLY

ATTACHING THE SHIELD

WARNING: The shield helps to protect the operator and others from thrown objects, and is equipped with a line limiter blade which cuts ex- cess line. This blade (on underside of shield) is sharp and can cut you.

SRemove wing nut from shield.

SInsert bracket into slot as shown.

SPivot shield until bolt passes through hole in bracket.

SSecurely tighten wing nut onto bolt.

FUELING ENGINE

This engine is certified to operate on unleaded gasoline. Gasoline must be mixed with a good quality 2-cycle air-cooled engine oil designed to be mixed at a ratio of 40:1. Poulan/Weed Eater brand oil is recommended. (A 40:1 ratio is obtained by mixing 3.2 ounces of oil with 1 gal- lon of unleaded gasoline). When mixing fuel fol- low the instructions printed on the container. Al- ways read and follow the safety rules under

FUEL SAFETY.
