USER INSTRUCTIONS: WH-S8 & WH-S10 SUBWOOFER

Before Connecting the Subwoofer

Level the subwoofer taking care to make sure it sits squarely on all its spikes.

• Switch off you amplifier and all connected source units at the mains.

Unplug the power cords to all system components if necessary.

Make sure the subwoofer is disconnected from the mains and that the ON/OFF switch is OFF.

Before re-connecting your system to the AC power supply, check that all the connections are properly made.

Check that all speaker terminals are done up tightly.

Ensure that there are no strands of wire shorting adjacent speaker terminals.

Signal cables should be properly terminated and fully screened to minimise hum. If you connect your subwoofer via low level signals inputs, the cable between your control unit or processor and the subwoofer could be quite long so screening is particularly important. Consult your dealer if in doubt.

WH-S8 & WH-S10 specifications

Wharfedale, a renowned British audio manufacturer, has recently introduced two impressive subwoofer models: the WH-S8 and WH-S10. Both of these subwoofers are engineered to deliver exceptional audio performance and complement any home theater or music setup. Let's delve into the main features, technologies, and characteristics that set these subwoofers apart.

The WH-S8 is equipped with an 8-inch driver, while the WH-S10 features a larger 10-inch driver, catering to different preferences when it comes to bass reproduction. The drivers are crafted using advanced materials that ensure durability and optimal performance. The cone design contributes to precise lows, providing an impactful listening experience without compromising clarity.

One of the standout features of both models is their impressive power handling capacity. The WH-S8 boasts a power output of 200 watts while the WH-S10 elevates this to 300 watts. This robust amplification allows for dynamic range and deep bass response, perfect for both cinematic moments and music performances. The built-in Class D amplifiers ensure high efficiency, leaving less wasted energy and keeping the heat generation to a minimum.

Both subwoofers utilize Wharfedale's proprietary technologies to enhance sound fidelity. The Low-Frequency Optimization (LFO) technology improves the subwoofers' low-end response, allowing users to experience deeper bass tones in music and movie soundtracks. Additionally, the driver design helps reduce distortion, ensuring that what you hear remains true to the original sound, enriching the overall audio experience.

The WH-S8 and WH-S10 also feature adjustable crossover settings, enabling listeners to customize the frequency range at which the subwoofer operates. This feature is essential for integrating the subwoofers effortlessly with satellite speakers, allowing for a balanced soundstage that doesn’t overpower midrange and high frequencies.

Moreover, both models include volume control options and phase adjustment capabilities, providing flexibility in tuning the sound to suit different room acoustics and personal preferences. The enclosures are constructed with high-quality MDF, which not only enhances durability but also minimizes cabinet resonances, ensuring clean sound reproduction.

In summary, the Wharfedale WH-S8 and WH-S10 subwoofers stand out for their solid construction, powerful performance, and advanced technologies. Whether you are a movie enthusiast or a music lover, these subwoofers promise to enhance your audio experience with their deep and precise bass performance, making them a worthy addition to any entertainment system.
