WINS (Windows Internet Name Service)
WINS provides the ability to easily locate devices on a network. WINS maintains a database of NetBIOS names to IP address mappings so users or applications can specify a name instead of an IP address for a particular resource on the network.
The Primary WINS Server IP address can be entered and used for all WINS and SMB operations.
If the Primary WINS Server field is left empty, the WINS client broadcasts the request to the first available WINS server on the network.
