CINEMA DSP Programmes and THX Programmes

One of the main advantages of CINEMA DSP is the large choice of sound field programmes available. The basic programme for movies is Enhanced, which greatly improves the sound of the surround fields. The "largest" of these sound fields is Spectacle, which recreates the open feeling of large-scale, epic motion pictures. The Sci-Fi, Adventure and General programmes provide the optimum sound fields for those movie genres. There are also THX programmes*.

*THX Ultra2/Select are the surround programmes for home use, based on the THX Theater processing developed for movie theatre surround sound.

Night Listening Enhancer

During low-volume listening, such as late at night, dynamic range suffers and you may miss some sounds. The Night Listening Enhancer offers two

modes, Cinema and Music, with three-level selectability, which will ensure that you don’t miss movie dialogue or quiet passages, or lose overall surround spaciousness. It works for all surround programmes, including Dolby Pro Logic IIx.

Enjoy Surround Sound through Headphones

SILENT CINEMA makes it possible to hear large- scale surround sound through ordinary headphones! This is a variation of CINEMA DSP technology that

Yamaha developed to let you listen in private to movies and other multichannel sources for hours without listening fatigue.

Surround Sound from Only Two Speakers

With just two left and right speakers, the Virtual CINEMA DSP mode will create two additional “virtual” surround speakers, giving you the sense of being in a full-scale surround sound field. So even in rooms with no space for surround speakers, you can enjoy the exciting effects of Dolby Digital and DTS movie sound formats.
