ECONOMY IDLE SWITCH The economy idle switch must be turned to "OFF" to increase engine speed to rated rpm when: -using a load of 0.8 A or less VOLTAGE ADJUSTER (for EF5200DE/EF6600DE) G.F.C.I. RECEPTACLE (for YG4000D/YG5200D/YG6600D/YG6600DE) TO REDUCE THE CHANCE OF ELECTRICAL SHOCK: Test the ground fault circuit interrupter during the Pre-operationchecks should be made each time the generator is used The engine and muffler will be very hot after the engine has been run FUEL Make sure there is sufficient fuel in the tank Recommended fuel: 9Wipe up any spilled fuel immediately 9After refueling, make sure the tank cap is tight- ened securely ENGINE OIL GROUND (Earth) (for EF4000DE/EF5200DE/EF6600DE/YG6600DE) (See page 34 for more details) Installation 9Remove the battery leads from the generator STARTING THE ENGINE 9Before starting the engine, do not connect any electric devices 9Turn the AC switch (N.F.B.) and economy idle switch to the “OFF” position 1.Turn the fuel cock lever to the “ON” position 2.Turn the engine switch to the “ON” position Electric Starting Model: (for YG6600DE) 9Take your hand off the switch immediately after the engine starts Manual Starting Model: (for YG4000D/YG5200D/YG6600D) APPLICATION RANGE Alternating Current (AC) 9Be sure any electric devices are turned off before plugging it in 9Be sure the total load is within generator rated output 9Be sure the receptacle load current is within receptacle rated current again, consult a Yamaha dealer STOPPING THE ENGINE 9Turn off any electric devices 1. Turn the engine switch to the “STOP” position 3.Turn the fuel cock lever to “OFF” MAINTENANCE CHART Regular maintenance is most important for best performance and safe operation Stop the engine before starting maintenance work Page SPARK PLUG INSPECTION CARBURETOR ADJUSTMENT ENGINE OIL REPLACEMENT Be sure no foreign material enters the crankcase AIR FILTER 1.Remove the air filter cover and element 2.Wash the element in solvent and dry Recommended oil: Foam-air-filteroil SAE #20 motor oil FUEL COCK Be sure the fuel cock cup is tightened securely FUEL TANK FILTER Be sure the tank cap is tightened securely MUFFLER SCREEN AND SPARK ARRESTER (For EF4000DE/YG4000D) Page Page (for EF4000DE/EF5200DE/EF6600DE/YG6600DE) Replenishing the battery fluid 9Do not disconnect the battery during engine operation 9Avoid operating the generator with the battery removed Antidote: EXTERNAL-Flushwith water FUSE REPLACEMENT (for EF4000DE/EF5200DE/EF6600DE/YG6600DE) Be sure the engine switch is turned off to prevent accidental short circuiting G.F.C.I. RECEPTACLE TEST TROUBLESHOOTING Engine won’t start FOR EF4000DE/EF5200DE/EF6600DE/YG6600DE A ENGINE DOES NOT START the engine switch to “START” (for EF4000DE/EF5200DE/EF6600DE) or push the starter switch (for YG6600DE) Page FOR YG4000D/YG5200D/YG6600D 9To prevent FIRE HAZARDS be sure fuel is not present in the spark plug area 9To prevent ELECTRIC SHOCK do not hold spark plug lead with hand while testing DRAIN THE FUEL 1.Drain the fuel tank, fuel cock, and carburetor float bowl 2.Pour a cup of SAE 10W30 or 20W40 motor oil into the tank 3.Shake the tank to coat the inner surfaces thor- oughly 4.Drain off the excess oil 9Disconnect the negative lead first, then the positive lead from the battery RECOMMENDED BATTERY Item Acronym 9CARB.
