Check and Filling Coolant System

WARNING!

ALWAYS make sure the engine is stopped and cool before remov- ing radiator pressure cap. To pre- vent scalding by hot fulid, NEVER remove the radiator cap while engine is hot.

NOTE: Failure to follow the recommended procedure for filling the cooling system will cause engine overheating and possible engine failure.

ALWAYS check coolant level at the overflow reservoir. The correct level of coolant in the over flow tank does NOT assure the radiator is full.

It is extremely important that when antifreeze is used, that it be mixed with water in a separate container before adding. NEVER add straight antifreeze to the radiator. Recommended mix is 50/50 lowtox (propylene glycol) phosphate-free antifreeze with tap water. DO NOT mix in ethylene glycol. Refer to engine operator’s manual.

The radiator for this cooling system is provided with two drain valves; one at each end of the lower tank. When draining the system, it is necessary to open both these valves to drain the radiator completely.

Add coolant to the radiator until it is up to the bottom of the fill cap. DO NOT install cap.

If the block has been drained, start and run the en-gine until the coolant level in the radiator drops. Stop engine.
