Input Select Switch

The input select switch enables the user the option of solid state or tube preamp.

Gain Control

The gain control on channel 1 controls the gain of both preamps, solid state and the tube, depending on setting of the input select switch. You can overdrive the input signal by increasing the gain while in the tube mode.

Tip: For some good vintage organ or just to further enhance the experience, increase the gain into the white outlined area of the control while in the tube mode. You’ll be pleased with the sweet overdrive and added growl of this circuit as you dial clockwise.

Input clip LED

The input clip LED will only turn on when the input signal from a source such as a keyboard is too hot and will clip the input circuits. To alleviate this, turn down the gain of the source unit.

Tone Controls

There are 3 tone controls, bass, mid and treble; these cover the entire audio spectrum. Each control permits a wide range of sonic adjustment, a boost or cut of 15 dB. The center position denotes 0 dB cut/boost.

Voicing

The Voicing circuit offers several pre-set user selectable tone shapes on channel one to add overall presence to further enhance specific synth sounds on the K2’s first channel. For those who like to keep it simple, 4 voicing presets are available. The presets are contoured for organ, piano, live and studio. Bypassing the circuit is also available when the selector is in 12 o’clock position. Try them all and see which one meets your needs.

Input 2

The RCA inputs are stereo, right and left. They are properly summed in the preamp. MP3 players, CD players and tape decks commonly use these. For best results use a player that has its own gain control, this will enable you to control the levels when the other ¼-inch / XLR Combi input jack used by another source and you do not wish to have both at the same audible level.

Gain Control

This control sets the gain of the preamp circuits, the overall volume can be set by this control while keeping the master fixed. If more volume is required increase either the master volume or increase the source (keyboard) gain without clipping the input.
