More complicated wireless networks, typically called
“infrastructure networks,” usually have an “Access Point” or “Gateway” to manage the connections between computers in the wireless network and other elements of the network.
In an infrastructure network, a wireless Gateway or Access Point increases the range of the network and connects the wireless network to a wired network.
