Chain care

Chain saw performance is highly dependent on the condition of the chain and guide bar. Main- tenance instructions for the chain are summarised below.

Model 1100 CD is fitted with a chain having a pitch of 0.404”.

La 1100 CD est equipee d’une chaine au pas de 0,404”.

When filing the chain, use a round file of diameter (5.5 mm).

Pour I’afftitage il convient d’utiliser une lime de 5,5 mm de diametre.

A distinction is made between touching up and refiling. Touching up is the free-hand filing carried out in the forest.

Man unterscheidet zwischen Putzfeilen und Grundfeilen. Putzfeilen wird draussen im Wald ohne Hilfsgerate ausgefuhrt.

For refiling, the chain should be removed from the guide bar and held in a hand vice. File holders and gauges should be used in conjunction with refiling.

A filing angle of 35” should be used. The file should be held at an angle of 35” – see arrow in Fig. Hold the file straight.
