Chapter 2. Host Adapter Installation – Intel-Based System

Connect the SCSI cable to the host adapter as shown in Figure 3–1.

3.The adapter is now physically installed. Later in the installation process, you will power on your system and load the appropriate software for the required host adapter drivers.

2.2Installing the Subsystem

1.Unlock the RAID Array Enclosure, if necessary, using the keys provided, and open the enclosure front door.

2.Turn off AC power to the enclosure.

3.Install the SCSI cable between the host system and the RAID Controller.

Route the right angle connector end of the cable under the SWXRA-Yx Subsystem enclosure and up through the front access hole closest to the connector on the RAID controller.

Install the connector with the cable dressed to the right by firmly pushing it onto the mating connector on the controller’s trilink connector. For a single controller configu- ration (see Figure 3–2), the other side of the trilink contains a terminator. For dual controller configurations, one trilink contains a terminator and is connected to the trilink on the other controller (see Figure 3–3) through an interconnecting SCSI cable (BN21L-0B).
