PrimeraPro comes equipped with both a wax thermal transfer and a dye-sublimation sample media kit. The wax thermal transfer kit contains 25 sheets of standard grade paper and 5 sheets of transparency film. The Dye-Sublimation Starter Kit contains 10 sheets of dye-sublimation paper. This should be enough to get you started. The amount of media contained in each kit matches the number of prints on each Starter Ribbon.

When you need more thermal transfer paper, it is highly recommended that you use FARGO-brand paper. Although PrimeraPro prints wax thermal transfer on plain paper, papers with a very smooth finish or a coated finish give you the best possible print quality and color brightness. Two grades of thermal transfer paper are available from FARGO: Standard Grade and Premium Grade. Standard Grade is a very smooth uncoated paper (Print on either side). Premium Grade is a coated sheet (Print on the smooth, coated side). Both are available in A-Size (8.5" x 11") and A4-Size (210 x 297mm). You may also wish to experiment with very high-quality laser printer papers. Depending upon the paper selected, quality may range from very poor to excellent.

FARGOÕs dye-sublimation paper is only available pre-packaged with the dye-sublimation ribbon. Dye-sublimation paper is available in A (8.5Ó x 11Ó) or A4-size (210 x 297mm) when packaged with the 3-color or monochrome dye-sublimation ribbons. A Legal-size (8.5Ó x 14Ó, 216 x 356mm) dye- sublimation paper is also available for use only with FARGOÕs 4-color dye-sublimation ribbon. This large format ribbon/paper combination provides true 4-color dye-sublimation printing along with a larger printable area than the standard A or A4-size paper. It is very important to always use FARGO-brand dye-sublimation ribbon and paper, since both are specifically matched for use with your PrimeraPro (Print on white, glossy side).

Like FARGO-brand papers, FARGO Transparencies are specially coated for either wax thermal transfer or dye-sublimation printing. Dye-sublimation transparencies are available in A (Letter) or A4- sizes and come pre-packaged with a 3-color dye- sublimation ribbon. Wax thermal transparencies are available in A-long (Letter-long) or A4-long sizes. All FARGO transparencies have an anti- static coating on their non-print side which helps to minimize feeding problems.
