B.Troubleshooting For FARGOÕs Macintosh Printer Driver and Backgrounder

If you are having difficulty using the FARGO driver, run through the following check list.

78

An error dialog box appears when you try to print saying the printer is not ready.

The FARGO driver indicates that it is printing, but there is no response from the PrimeraPro.

Is the printer plugged into the wall outlet? Is the Power light on? Is the printer selected in the Chooser? Is the printer connected to the printer port of the Macintosh or to the AppleTalk network? Does the printer have paper and the proper ribbon installed?

Ensure that the Now option is selected in the Print dialog box when the Backgrounder is not in use. If the Background/Later option in the Print dialog box is selected, the driver creates a copy of the document that is processed later by the FARGO Backgrounder. If you are not using the FARGO Backgrounder, the document is stored in the printing queue and is not processed. If you accidentally select Background/Later, and wish the document to be printed in the foreground, delete the spool file that was created. Spool files are stored in the Spool Folder, inside the System Folder, and have an icon like this:

As a last resort, save what you are working on, close all applications, and do a system restart. This clears the memory of the Macintosh. If you are using the FARGO Backgrounder, be sure it is opened before you open any other application. Now, try your print job again.
