Envelopes with excessive curl or twist exceeding 0.12 in. (6 mm), stuck together, with bent corners or nicked edges or those that interlock should not be used.

Minimum weight: 20 lb. (75 g/m2)

The following envelopes should not be used:

¾ Envelopes with windows, holes, perforations, cutouts, deep embossing or package damage

¾ Envelopes with metal clasps, string ties or metal folding bars

¾ Envelopes with exposed flap adhesive when the flap is in the closed position

For best results, printing on new 90 g/m2 (24 lb.) sulfite or 25% cotton bond envelopes is recommended.

Under high humidity conditions (over 60%) the envelopes may seal during printing.

Transparencies

Use letter or A4-size sheets only.

Transparencies specifically designed for xerographic copy machines or laser printers may be used with the Lexmark X854e MFP.

Labels

Labels should be selected using guidelines found in the User's Guide or the Cardstock and Label Guide, and tested for acceptability.

Options and Features

Finisher

An optional finishing option is available for the Lexmark X854e MFP. It has two output bins with bin full and empty sensing and supports stapling, hole punching and offset stacking. The Finisher is designed for customer setup and attaches to the right side of the printer. There are two orderable part numbers, Finisher 2/3-hole and Finisher 2/4-hole. Power is supplied from the printer power supply therefore no separate external power source is required. Total output capacity is 3,800 sheets: Standard output: 300 sheets, Bin 1 is 500 sheets and Bin 2 is 3000 sheets (unstapled, 20lb/75g/m2, A4/Letter, plain paper).

Staple Capacity: 5,000 staples

Staple-low Sensing: Yes – with approximately 20 staples remaining

Staple-out Sensing: Yes

Maximum Packet Size: 50 sheets (20 lb. (75g/m2), A4/letter, plain paper).

Staple Output Bin: Finisher bin 2 only

Hole Punching

Letter size: Standard 2/3-hole punch

A4 size: Standard 2/4-hole punch

Collector box full sensing: Yes

Maximum packet size: Until the bin is full

Hole punch output bin: Finisher bin 1 or bin 2

Offset Stacking

Offset bin output: Finisher bin 2 or printer standard bin

Offset stacking in the printer standard bin is 1.18 in. (13 mm)

Finisher Limitations

Maximum paper size 11.7 in. x 17 in.

Universal size media output is not supported

Stapling may reduce output bin capacity

The hole punch configuration is factory set and not user or field configurable

The hole punch does not support transparencies, labels or card stock

Card stock up to 90 lb.

Printer standard bin capacity is reduced to 300 sheets of 20 lb. (75 g/m2), A4/letter, plain paper with the finisher installed.

2000-Sheet High Capacity Feeder

The optional High Capacity Feeder provides one additional input tray

Capacity: 2,000 sheets plain paper (20 lb.)

Media types supported: plain paper

Minimum size: B5 or Executive

Maximum size: A4 or letter

Automatic size sensing: B5, letter and executive

Note: Auto size sensing for B5 and executive requires the “SIZE SENSING” setting to be changed in the printer configuration menu.

Standard Duplex

The Lexmark X854e is shipped with the duplex option.

The duplex does not support card stock, transparencies, labels or envelopes.

Forms

The Forms application requires the MFP be assigned to a Lexmark Document Portal Server v3.2 or later. The
