Before you begin

Before you install the DVD-ROM drive, read the information in this section on handling precautions and on using the drive controls and connectors.

Handling precautions

Use the following handling precautions to protect your drive.

vKeep the DVD-ROM drive in the antistatic bag until you are ready to install the drive. Limit your movement when installing; movement can cause static electricity buildup.

vHandle the drive with care. Dropping or jarring the drive can damage the components inside the drive housing.

vDo not force insertion damage the connector

of the combo or power cables. Doing so might or the drive.
