Change supervisor or user password
ÊWhen changing the password, proceed exactly as for password assignment.
You can only change the supervisor password when you have logged into the BIOS Setup with the supervisor password.
Cancelling passwords
To cancel a password (without setting a new password) run the following steps:
ÊCall BIOS Setup and select the Security menu.
ÊMark the Set User Password or Set Supervisor Password field and press the Enter key. With Enter new Password you will then be asked to enter a password.
ÊPress the Enter key twice.
ÊSelect the Exit Saving Changes option in the Exit menu.
The notebook is rebooted and the password is cancelled.
With the supervisor password you simultaneously deactivate the user password.
Password protection of operating system
With the supervisor password or the user password, you have assigned in the BIOS Setup i (see section "Protecting BIOS Setup (supervisor and user password)"), you can also
prevent booting of the operating system.
Activating system protection
ÊCall BIOS Setup and select the Security menu.
ÊIf you have not assigned BIOS passwords yet, define the supervisor and the user password now, if desired (see "Protecting BIOS Setup (supervisor and user password)" section).
ÊMark the Password on Boot field and press the Enter key.
ÊSelect the Every Boot entry and press the Enter key.
If you do not want to make any other settings, you can exit BIOS Setup.
ÊSelect the Exit Saving Changes option in the Exit menu.
The notebook reboots and you are asked to enter your password (the supervisor or user password).
Deactivating system protection
ÊCall BIOS Setup and select the Security menu.
ÊMark the Password on Boot field and press the Enter key.
ÊSelect Disabled and press the Enter key.
If you do not want to make any other settings, you can exit BIOS Setup.
ÊSelect the Exit Saving Changes option in the Exit menu.
The notebook reboots and there is no longer any password protection for the operating system.
