Installing Pluggable Transceivers

Supervisor engine uplink ports require that pluggable transceivers be installed in the uplink port sockets. These transceivers are normally shipped separately from the supervisor engine and must be installed after the supervisor engine is installed in the chassis. Table 3-1lists the types of transceivers used in the supervisor engine uplink ports and the location on cisco.com of the specific installation instructions for the transceiver.

Caution We strongly recommend that you do not install or remove any of the transceiver with a fiber-optic cable attached to it because of the potential damage to the cable, the cable connector, or the optical interfaces in the transceiver. Disconnect the network interface cable before removing or installing any transceiver.
