The ATM Connection Setup Screen

Encapsulation Type (Read-Only)

This field displays the type of Encapsulation being used to switch Ethernet frames to ATM cells. The three possible options for this field are as follows:

VC Mux 802.3 LANE - VC Based Multiplexed 802.3 LAN Emulation. This method is specified by the ATM Forum LAN Emulation specification. This option is available for SVCs only.

VC Mux 802.3 Bridged - VC Based Multiplexing for Bridged Protocols as defined by the IETF RFC 1483.

LLC Encapsulated - Logical Link Control for Bridged Protocols as defined by the IETF RFC 1483.

AAL Type (Read-Only)

This field displays the ATM Adaptation Layer being used by the HSIM-A6DP. This field displays AAL Type 5.

Status (Read-Only)

This field displays the operational status of the Virtual Channel Connection (VCC). This field will display “Enabled” or “Disabled”.

PREVIOUS (Command)

This command lets you scroll to the previous screen. To go to the previous screen use the arrow keys to highlight the PREVIOUS command and press ENTER. The previous screen of current connections displays.

NEXT (Command)

This command lets the user scroll to the next screen if the HSIM-A6DP has more connections than can fit on the first screen. To go to the next screen use the arrow keys to highlight the NEXT command and press ENTER. The next screen of current connections displays.

ADD/DELETE (Command)

This command lets you access the Add/Delete Entry screen. The Add/Delete Entry screen allows the user to create or delete PVCs.
