Connecting the USB Interface Cable
USB is available with a PC/AT compatible computer that is originally equipped with USB and has Windows Me, Windows 98 or Windows 2000 preinstalled. As for Macintosh, USB is available with Mac OS 8.5.1 - 9.x and a computer that is
originally equipped with USB.
1 Obtain a shielded USB interface cable.
2 Insert the cable into the USB interface connector located on the rear of the printer.
3 Insert the other end of the cable into the interface connector of your computer, or the USB hub connected to your computer.
Ensure that your computer and printer are turned off.

3 Insert the cable into the parallel interface connector located on the rear of the printer, and fasten with clasps.
Obtain an IEEE1284 shielded parallel interface cable.
CONNECTING THE INTERFACE CABLE
This printer includes both USB and parallel interface connectors.
Interface cables for connecting the printer to your computer are not included with this printer. You need to purchase the cable suitable for the connector on your computer, referring to "Interface Cable" (page 49).
