Input Image: The Input Image controls are functionally similar to those in the Picture menu (refer to page 58), but are accessible only by entering the Calibration menu passcode.

The Input Image settings establish the “zero point” for the Picture

Note menu settings, whose values represent offsets from the Input Image settings. For example, if you set Brightness to 10 in this menu, setting Brightness to 10 in the Picture menu results in an actual setting value of 20 (10+10).

Input Color: The Input Color controls are similar to those in the Display Color menu (see above), but adjust the color balance of the incoming signal. These settings are also saved independently for each input and display mode.

Gain/Offset (HD1, HD2 and Component/SCART inputs only): These controls operate similarly to those in the Display Color menu (described on page 65), but affect the Y, Pb and Pr signal components rather than the red, green and blue channels.

Chroma Delay: use the Chroma Delay control to correct a mis-aligned image from a Composite or S-Video source. Chroma delay in an image causes color shifts to occur to the left of the vertical edge transitions, producing artificial shadows or a “halo” effect. If necessary, adjust this setting to eliminate them.

Noise Filter: To apply noise filtering to the input signal, select Noise Filter from the Input Color menu. The Noise Filter is useful for clearing up noisy images from 480i video sources.

Use the left- or right-arrow buttons to select the desired amount of noise reduction, keeping in mind that higher settings (which reduce high frequencies) may also “soften” the image.

Save ISF Night/Save ISF Day: Whenever you make a change to the ISF settings, you should always save it. Select Save ISF Night or Save ISF Day from the Calibration menu to do this.

Copy/Paste: You can copy and paste settings from one memory location to another. This gives you a convenient starting point for creating a new preset based on an existing one, to make the calibration process less time-consuming.

For example, you can use the Copy/Paste feature to:

Apply settings from HDMI 1 to HDMI 2, or from HD1 to HD2.

Calibrate an input for 720p source signals, then use those settings for 1080i sources.

Duplicate ISF Night settings for a given source and signal format and save them in the “Custom” memory preset.

To use this feature, select Copy/Paste from the Calibration menu.

Copy Settings: Select Copy Settings from the Copy/Paste menu to place the settings for the current input source, signal format (resolution and frame rate) and memory preset onto a “clipboard,” which is a temporary memory location. When you do, the message “Settings Copied” briefly appears on-screen. The Copy/Paste menu then re-appears, indicating the source of the copied settings.

Copied settings are not retained after a power cycle.

VX-55D, VX-44D specifications

The Runco VX-55D and VX-44D projectors represent a pinnacle in home theater technology, offering expansive image quality and immersive viewing experiences. Runco, known for its commitment to delivering exceptional visual performance, has integrated numerous features and advanced technologies in these models.

One of the standout features of both the VX-55D and VX-44D is their native 1080p resolution, delivering stunningly sharp images with vibrant colors that capture the finest details. This high definition capability ensures that viewers can enjoy their favorite movies, sports, and gaming content with unparalleled clarity. The projectors utilize the latest DLP (Digital Light Processing) technology, which enhances brightness and color accuracy, providing a more vivid and lifelike picture.

Another impressive characteristic of the Runco VX series is its exceptional contrast ratios. With deep blacks and brilliant whites, these projectors offer a dynamic range that brings out subtle details in both shadow and highlight areas. This contrast performance is particularly beneficial for watching films in darker environments, where the depth of imagery is crucial for immersion.

In terms of color processing, the VX-55D and VX-44D incorporate Runco's proprietary ColorPalette technology. This system ensures accurate and rich color reproduction by utilizing a wide color gamut, allowing viewers to experience content as the creators intended. Coupled with advanced color management capabilities, users can further tweak their viewing experience to match their preferences.

The integration of flexible installation options is another highlight of these projectors. They support up to 10-point digital keystone correction, making setup simple and adaptable to various room configurations. This flexibility ensures that no matter the space, users can achieve a perfectly aligned and geometrically accurate image.

Runco has also designed the VX-55D and VX-44D with user-friendly interfaces, including intuitive remote controls and on-screen menus. Both projectors come equipped with multiple HDMI inputs, allowing users to connect various devices seamlessly. Additionally, they support 3D content playback, a feature that has become increasingly important for enhancing the cinematic experience.

Energy efficiency is a consideration in the design of these projectors as well, making them not only high-performance devices but also more sustainable than many of their counterparts. With a sleek aesthetic, the Runco VX-55D and VX-44D can seamlessly blend into any home theater setup, adding a touch of elegance while providing an extraordinary viewing experience.

In summary, the Runco VX-55D and VX-44D projectors are characterized by their high-definition resolution, advanced DLP technology, rich color processing, and flexible installation options, making them ideal choices for any home theater enthusiast looking to elevate their viewing experience.
