ALIGN THE SUBSCRIBER MODULE

There are two methods that can be utilized for aligning a subscriber module to an access point module. The first is to monitor the RSSI and Jitter values on the subscriber. The second is to utilize the built-in alignment tool on the subscriber module. In either case it is necessary for a computer to be connected to the subscriber module to gain access to the web-based interface.

Monitoring RSSI and Jitter

The RSSI (received signal strength indicator) and Jitter are two parameters that can be used for alignment of a subscriber module. The RSSI level must be above 700 and the Jitter must be 9 or below (with 5 being the best) for a link to be acceptable.

Point subscriber module in direction of the access point. Remember that when utilizing the

internal patch antenna the energy is radiated out in a 60o horizontal by 60o vertical pattern.

IF UTILIZING A 5.7 GHz SUBSCRIBER MODULE: the passive reflector will change the radiated pattern to 6° horizontal by 6° vertical.

The module has a series of states that it will go through to register to an access point. Those states are: scanning, syncing, registering, and registered. RSSI and Jitter will not report on the web page till the unit is registered. If the module will not register ensure that there is line-of-sight, the access point module is transmitting, the color codes match, and that the subscriber is within the appropriate distance to the access point as specified by the max range value on the access point module.

After the module has registered, slowly adjust the positioning of the subscriber module until RSSI has been maximized and Jitter has been minimized. Lock down the module when appropriate.

Perform a link test to check the efficiency of the link. See Link Test for further information. The efficiencies must be above 90% in both the up and down link for packet loss to not occur.

Utilizing Alignment Mode

The Alignment web page will display, in graphical form, levels for RSSI, Jitter, and the number of registered users at the access point.
