Radio operation with RDS (Radio Data System)

The Radio Data System provides FM recep- tion with enhanced convenience.

An increasing number of radio stations now broadcast RDS information supplementary to the programme proper.

As soon as stations can be recognized, the station code appears, in some cases with indication of the region, e.g. NDR1 NDS (Niedersachsen).

With RDS, the station keys become pro- gramme keys. You now know exactly what station you are receiving, and you can there- fore also select the desired station.

RDS offers you further advantages:

AF - alternative frequency

The AF (Alternative Frequency) function en- sures that the best available frequency of the station being received is selected auto- matically.
