5.0 SATA Interface

These drives use the industry-standard Serial ATA (SATA) interface that supports FIS data transfers. It supports ATA programmed input/output (PIO) modes 0 to 4; multiword DMA modes 0 to 2, and Ultra DMA modes 0 to 6.

For detailed information about the SATA interface, refer to the “Serial ATA: High Speed Serialized AT Attachment” specification.

5.1Hot-Plug compatibility

Constellation CS Serial ATA drives incorporate connectors which enable you to hot plug these drives in accordance with the SATA Revision 3.0 specification. This specification can be downloaded from www.serialata.org.

Caution

The drive motor must come to a complete stop (Ready to spindle stop time indicated in Section 3.7) prior to changing the plane of operation.This time is required to insure data integrity.
